I remember a few years ago when the first HD Over Coax technologies began to emerge. SDI technology was really the first commercially available HD Over Coax Technology, however, due to its expensive price point, it was never a real huge success.
Shortly thereafter, CVI cameras emerged into the market. It was a big hit due to the very inexpensive price point. Having 720p image quality over a coax cable was just mind-blowing at the time. Customers could upgrade their old D1 resolution analog systems to a nice and clear 720p system without changing out all their old school Siamese coax cable like they would have to do with an IP system!
Here are some pictures of Siamese Cable and BNC Connectors that you used to hook up the old school analog systems. You can still use these cables and connectors for all the new HD over coax variants:
Here are some pics of some of the CVI cameras we used to carry:
Soon after, 1080p CVI cameras hit the market, along with several other HD Over Coax variants including TVI and AHD formats. While these formats remained popular, there was industry talk that these technologies would never exceed 1080p (2MP) resolution.
Well, here we are just a few short years later and now Nelly's is introducing 4K (8MP) TVI Security cameras to the market. As of this writing, Nelly's was the first company to market this product in the USA as we continue to be the leaders in 4K Security Camera sales.
Much like when we introduced the industry's first affordable 4K IP cameras, we expect these products to be very popular. All the new HDTV's that are coming out do 4K resolution, why wouldn't you want your cameras to have the same capabilities?
The Benefits of 4K TVI Technology
Lets take a look at the benefits of adding 4K TVI technology to your surveillance system!
Upgrade Your Current Coax-Type System
Whether you are still running one of the old-school analog systems or if you have one of the early models of the HD Over Coax type systems that do 720p or 1080p, you can easily upgrade to one of the affordable DVRs that we offer.
There is one thing you need to know though. If you plan on using 4K TVI cameras, you will need to upgrade to one of our DVRs that allow for 4K resolution. But the good news is you don't have to switch out all your cameras because...
Our DVRs Work With Old Analog, HD-CVI, HD-TVI, or AHD Cameras
If your current DVR has BNC connections, then chances are your cameras will work on your new DVR that you are getting from us. This means that you won't have to swap out all of your cameras if you don't want to. You can still keep as many as you want, or replace and/or add some 4K cameras if you wish.
And guess what else?
You Can Even Add Some IP Cameras to These DVRs
The following DVRs are all Hybrids, meaning they can do all the above HD Over Coax technologies along with the ability to add some additional IP cameras. Check the specs for the following DVRs to see how many IP cameras you can add to each one. Lets say you have a couple of IP cameras already installed at your location; no problem, add them to this DVR and control everything in one system.
What can all these DVRs do?
- They all have 4K HDMI output for brilliant viewing on your 4K HDTV. We totally recommend utilizing this, as you will be blown away by the image quality!
- They all have "easy-to-setup" remote viewing access. View your cameras from your smart device or computer from anywhere in the world using free apps and software.
- H.265 encoding allows for optimal hard drive storage utilization. The extra resolution wont eat up your hard drive space quickly!
- And much much more.

For one, a 4K TVI system is lower in cost and easier to set up than a comparable 4K IP system.
Regardless of whether you plan on upgrading your current system or simply starting from scratch we have compiled together a system that would fit most scenarios.
