The Centrios Lineup: What Installers Need to Know About the Cylindrical Lock, Exit Trim, and Smart Padlock

If you've been keeping an eye on the access control space, you've probably heard the name Centrios come up more and more. Design and Build

Cylindrical Lock

The Cylindrical Lock is an incredibly simple and intuitive device. While there is an option for key access, Centrios shines in their mobile app economy. One app controls all of these devices. The Cylindrical Lock is no exception. After registering the device with your Centrios account in the app, all it takes is you simply holding your phone up to the lock (with the app open) to gain access.

It has a low-profile and modern design to its housing which is built from advanced polycarbonate. It’s scratch-resistant, easy to wipe down, and designed to hold up in high-traffic entryways without looking worn after a few months on the job. It's IP67 weather resistant, so it can handle dust and water exposure on both sides of the door, which makes it a solid fit for exterior entries and loading docks. Its operating temperature range is -40°F up to 140°F, so performance doesn't change with the weather.

On the security side, it's ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1 certified (the highest rating in that standard) and it's built to withstand thousands of cycles and even forced-entry attempts. It also carries a UL10C three-hour fire rating, meeting fire-door code requirements for commercial buildings.

Exit Trim

The Exit Trim shares most of its physical specs with the Cylindrical Lock; same IP rating, same fire rating, and a similar operating temperature range (it actually goes slightly lower, down to -35°F). I said it before, but it’s wroth saying again for the exit trim especially: those ratings apply to both sides of the exit trim, not just the exterior side, which isn't always the case with other exit trim products on the market.

Smart Padlock

Not everything a small business needs to secure is attached to a door frame. Storage units, gates, trailers, toolboxes, bikes, etc. all usually end up protected by a cheap padlock and a key that's easy to lose. This is where the Centrios Padlock fits in.

The smart padlock has no physical key access. Your phone is the key. Simply use that same Centrios app (more on that a little later) to lock and unlock the device.

It has a fully solid brass body that resists corrosion over years of outdoor use, finished in a durable satin chrome. The shackle is reinforced chromed steel rated to resist roughly 6,300lbs of cutting force; this isn't coming off with a pair of bolt cutters from the hardware store. Since it's built to live outdoors, it's IP67 rated and has been tested through 240 hours of salt spray exposure, making it a strong fit for marine settings, coastal properties, and job sites. Operating range is -2°F to 120°F.

Installation

Installation is where a lot of commercial locks become a headache: special tools, custom door prep, or a call to a specialist. Centrios was built to avoid all of that. Both the Cylindrical Lock and the Exit Trim are engineered for self-installation and can be adjusted to fit door thicknesses from 1-3/8" to 2-1/4". A single installer can mount one in minutes with no prior experience required. There's also a lock jig accessory available that acts as a perfect template for installation. Definitely worth grabbing no matter how many units you’re installing.

The Padlock works a little differently. To conserve battery, it spends most of its time in sleep mode. To wake it, just press a finger to the small brass knob on the bottom of the lock, then hold your phone with the correct credentials up to it to lock or unlock.

Power and Backup

The Cylindrical Lock and Exit Trim both typically run for about a full year on four standard AA batteries; no complicated charging schedule to manage. If the batteries do die at the worst possible time, there's an exterior emergency 9V power backup, so nobody actually gets locked out. Both also include a configurable auto-relock feature, so doors don't get left open or unlocked longer than intended.

The Padlock runs on an integrated lithium polymer battery good for up to six months on a single charge. Charging is simple. Just use a standard USB-C cable and a 5V power source. If the battery does fully die, it can be powered back up with that same USB-C cable no problem.

Access and Security

The Cylindrical Lock and Exit Trim both give you a traditional mechanical key override as a physical backup, but day to day, most access happens via Bluetooth straight from the Centrios app. No more fumbling for keys, and no rekeying the whole building every time someone leaves the company. The Cylindrical Lock and Exit Trim also support a privacy mode, backed by an included door position sensor, so a private office or meeting room can be secured from the inside when needed.

One security detail worth highlighting to customers: once a device - lock, trim, or padlock - is added to a Centrios account, it can't be reset or reassigned to a new account unless the original account holder explicitly removes it. Even if someone gets their hands on the hardware itself, they can't just add it to their own system. But if someone stole the cylindrical lock off of your door, you’ve got bigger problems.

The Centrios App

Every product in the lineup connects to the same Centrios mobile app, and that's where most of the day-to-day value shows up. Owners and managers can grant or remove access for employees and vendors in seconds. Access schedules can be set so a door only unlocks during business hours, or only for a cleaning crew on the specific nights they're scheduled.
